This is a very complex-flavored Pinot which we were thrilled to discover! Rich dark red and blue fruit, nice earthiness, and cheerful spiciness at the finish. Many famous wineries source their grapes from Hyde vineyard, including Kistler!

FROM THE WINERY

Founded by Larry Hyde in 1979, Hyde Vineyards is located in the heart of Napa Valley's Carneros region. Hyde Vineyards has long been hailed a grand cru-caliber site primarily known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit, used by some of the most highly acclaimed wine producers in Napa and Sonoma. In 2009, Larry decided to debut his own small-lot production Pinot Noir project. Today, the Hyde Estate Winery looks out over the acclaimed vineyards near the Carneros Highway corridor surrounded by 25 acres planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Tasting Notes:

Brilliantly structured, with expressive violets, raspberry, and dark cherry notes. The juicy flavors of plums and black berries dominate the palate, there fined tannins and supportive acid offers balance to the lingering finish.

Vintage Notes:

This vintage did not see a lot of rain but was overall a moderate growing season. Light rain during bloom lowered crop levels, however, the berries that remained were concentrated. A heat spike during August slowed down the ripening of the grapes giving the fruit depth and great flavors. With the unfortunate occurrence of the 2017 fires, we were lucky enough to have picked all our fruit and secured in barrels before the smoke settled in.
