Resonance Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2019
Willamette Valley, OR
94 pts. Wine Spectator:
"Vibrant and impeccably structured, with floral raspberry, crushed stone and savory tea accents that build tension toward refined tannns. Drink now through 2031. 6,087 cases made." -TF, March 2022
Jacques Lardière, the winemaker for Burgundy's Maison Louis Jadot for 42 years, retired in 2012. He came to the Willamette Valley and found Resonance - "a potentially iconic vineyard capable of producing site-expressive wines with character." Jacques couldn't resist - he decided to come out of retirement and co-founded Resonance Wines in 2013.
The Resonance Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a shining example of how great Oregon Pinots can be, with the right winemaker! Close your eyes and you'd think it's a Burgundy, with lots of minerality on the nose. But take a sip and you get more fruit and depth of flavor - Willamette Valley "flair." It's a very complex wine and completely enjoyable!
FROM THE WINERY
Our Willamette Valley Pinot Noir represents a blend of the finest vineyards in the Willamette Valley and includes grapes from our own estate vineyards, Resonance and Decouverte. We work with like-minded growers throughout the area who share our commitment to cultivating terroir-driven Pinot Noir. The result is a cuvee that offers an authentic representation of the Willamette Valley AVA.
The beginning of 2019 was wet but warm. May and June were warmer than average, giving great weather conditions for the bloom in early June. Then the summer showed moderately cool conditions, with higher humidity. After a warm and dry August, and veraison on the middle of the month, a rapid cool down with significant precipitations in September slowed down the maturation. Juggling between rainfalls, we harvested our Pinot noir grapes from September 19th to October 2nd. Requiring a meticulous sorting, followed by a precise destemming, the grapes had a good and dynamic fermentation, revealing an elegant structure with delicate aromas.
Expressive nose of strawberry, cherry, rose, orange peel and licorice. Elegant palate, nice harmony with a brilliant acidity and a lot of fruity notes.
