San Filippo Le Lucere Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015 Red Wine
San Filippo Le Lucere Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015
Tuscany, Italy100 pts. James Suckling!:
"Decadent aromas of ripe fruit, such as plums and peaches with black truffles and porcini mushrooms. Full body, with layers of ripe fruit and round and chewy tannins. Lots of chocolate and fresh mushroom at the finish. A thoroughly terroir-driven red. Try after 2022."
San Filippo, just outside the town of Montalcino, was founded in 1972. Roberto Giannelli bought the property in 2003 and totally renovated both the winery and the vineyards. His efforts paid off - his wines have earned high ratings for many years since. 2015 was a "fairy-tale" vintage in Tuscany. Roberto called it "an incredible, perfect vintage - every grape had exceptional quality." Anyone who loves Brunellos and/or collects fine wines should not pass this one by!
WINEMAKER'S NOTES:The colour is ruby red with reflexes verging on garnet. The perfume is intense, fine and elegant, with notes of cherries preserved in alcohol, enriched with spices redolent of cinnamon and cloves. On the palate it explodes in all its fineness and elegance thanks to the dense and silky tannins. Excellent body that renders the flavour harmonious and persistent. Excellent nose-mouth correspondence.
