A very well balanced, finely crafted, truly boutique wine that comes through with the subtle yet distinct nuances only found in Sonoma County. Certainly a great value at only $32.99!
Nestled in the pristine Bennett Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) of Sonoma County, Bennett Valley Cellars farms 40 acres of Estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The well-drained alluvial (volcanic) soils and fog cooled climate combine to create an ideal growing environment for producing world class wines. The end result is wine with flavors and aromatic characteristics unique to this beautiful valley.
Working in his grandfather's vineyard in the Veneto region in Italy, owner and winemaker Emilio Zanin cut his teeth some 60 years ago before and after school, where he learned to love the hard work and passion necessary to make quality wine. After immigrating to the United States in 1969, Emilio and his family have now realized their life-long ambition of owning their own vineyards from which to produce premium wine.
The 2009 Bennett Valley Cellars Pinot Noir is a blend of two Dijon clones, 115 representing 60% of the blend and 2A representing 40% of the blend. More in keeping with the spirit of purity and integrity this wine is 100% Pinot Noir. The wine was matured in 35% new French oak and 65% neutral barrels for 10 months.
The wine is perfectly balanced, with moderate alcohol, and crisp acidity showing bright fruit flavors. Our 2009 Pinot Noir has an elegant, restrained style, with aromas of cherry, caraway, and beets on the nose, while mineral notes play through the mid palate into a lingering finish. More than being a fruit-forward style of Pinot Noir, the 2009 Bennett Valley has many layers to its structure. It is a wine to linger over after the main course and appreciate slowly over the cheese plate.
