Red Car Estate Vineyard Fort Ross-Seaview Pinot Noir 2013

Sonoma Coast, CA

Red Car was rated one of Wine & Spirits Magazine's top 100 Wineries in 2017!

What's not to love about this wine? It's a GORGEOUS, classic, perfectly balanced Pinot Noir that really shows off just how darn good the Sonoma Coast Pinots can be! This wine is so delicious, you don't just drink it, you savor every sip. A Pinot lover's Pinot, it's medium-bodied and layered with a multitude of wonderful flavors only found in high-quality wines like this.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES:

We are proud that the Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir has become our benchmark wine, offering the ideal synthesis of grace, concentration, and flavor. First planted in 2005 to multiple suitcase selections and Dijon clones of Pinot Noir, the fourth vintage from this site displays a new level of intensity that is attributed to the maturing of these vines, as well as the picture-perfect growing conditions of 2013. The well-drained Ohlson Ranch sandstone soils naturally limit vigor while the cool sunshine, moderated by the fog covered Pacific Ocean, maintains balanced ripening throughout the growing season. 2013 was the first vintage we harvested fruit from the Calera clone, which has added a new level of concentration and complexity to this highly sought after wine. This is a perfumed Pinot Noir, with mouth-watering acidity and completely integrated tannins.

PHILOSOPHY

Red Car is focused on growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah in a network of cold-climate vineyards on the edge of the Pacific in the West Sonoma Coast. We are hands-on farmers, part of a small cadre of wineries in our region who are fortunate to grow a large majority of our own fruit. For several years now we have worked hard to go beyond sustainability and have integrated the concepts and principles of organic, biodynamic and permaculture systems into our farming as we search for nature’s ideal pathways. Our wines are made in small lots utilizing minimalist intervention techniques like native yeast fermentation, gravity flow, and natural acid.
