Trinitas Cellars Carneros Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir 2015

Carneros Region of Napa Valley, CA

90 pts. James Suckling: “Fresh berry and blackcurrant character with some spices. Medium bodied with fresh acidity and a fruity finish. Drink now.” – 12/2017

This wine is a beauty! Skillfully crafted to express all the best qualities of Pinot Noir, it is a joy to drink with or without food. Medium-bodied and elegant, with hints of caramel and plum, it pairs especially well with poultry and lamb. And oh, what a wonderfully LONG finish!

Tasting Notes: The 2015 Carneros Pinot Noir expresses aromatics of cherry, cinnamon, plum, and fresh tilled earth. This is a bigger style Pinot Noir, typical of Los Carneros, with a beautiful structured entry and weighty mid palate. Slightly dusty tannins and bright ripe cherry linger on the finish.

Winemaking Notes: Our Pinot Noir is a clonal selection of equal parts Dijon 114, 667 and 777. It is entirely sourced from Stanly Ranch in the Carneros Region of the Napa Valley. We hand pick and harvest at night to ensure that our berries are whole and cool during sorting. The fruit is then sent to tank for a five-day cold soak to maximize color and enhance mouthfeel. After cold soak, we inoculate and ferment to dryness. This wine spends nine months in thirty‐three percent new French oak.

Vintage Notes: This was another outstanding vintage for California. As the drought lingered on, we continued to see below average crop sizes and wonderful ripe fruit. Wines from 2015 are showing beautifully out of the gate and should age well.
