Some wineries just seem to do everything right. Trisaetum, in Oregon's Willamette Valley, is one of those. They produce top-quality Pinot Noirs in small amounts from a few different vineyards in the region. All are spectacular! The Wichmann Dundee 2012 is a "signature Oregon Pinot Noir" - complex, with a forest floor, damp earth nose, plum, raspberries and subtle spice on the palate, with a wonderfully long finish. This wine tastes like money!
The 2012 Wichmann Dundee Pinot Noir comes from the smallest of our three estate vineyards. The 8 acre vineyard is located in the Dundee Hills AVA of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Vine age is 17 years. It also happens to be our highest elevation vineyard at 700 feet.
We call this vineyard the Audrey Hepburn of our three sites as year after year it produces wines of elegance, refinement, and beauty. The 2012 is no different. Classic red fruits (raspberry and red cherry) you see off the volcanic soils of the Dundee Hills dominate the nose; along with floral notes of violets and acacia. With the warmer and riper 2012 vintage, some darker notes of dark cherry emerge on the palate. The hallmark of this vineyard is its seamless and beautifully integrated tannin structure that makes this bottling appealing even in its youth. We recommend enjoying 2014 thru 2028. - James Frey, winemaker/proprietor
Fermentation occurred in a mixture of open-top oak and stainless steel vats. Wine was aged in a mixture of new and neutral French oak barrels for eleven months in our subterranean cave.
