Handley Cellars RSM Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019 Red Wine

Anderson Valley, CA
97 pts., Cellar Selection, Wine Enthusiast:

"Possibly Handley's best Pinot Noir ever, this beauty offers an aroma of spearmint and fresh linens, flavors of black cherries and subtle oak spices that are intricate yet concentrated, on a creamy texture that's elegant and smooth. Moderate tannins and full body give it great structure for further aging. Best from 2027." - Jim Gordon

Handley Cellars is one of the top Pinot Noir producers in the Anderson Valley of Northern California. We're big fans of this winery! The RSM Pinot Noir is one of our favorites from Handley. It's rich and elegant with complex nuances including dark fruit, baker's chocolate, and a hint of redwood forest in the fog. Decant this wine, don't be in a hurry to drink it! This Pinot will enhance your culinary creations; it's very food-friendly! - Wine Factor

FROM THE WINERY

Our third vintage of organically farmed (CCOF certified) grapes harvested from the RSM Estate Vineyard planted in 1999. Picking was interrupted by climatic events in what was an early ripening vintage. The delay allowed further ripening of the fruit. This wine is a mix of Dijon 115, 667, and Pommard clones. Rich and creamy aromas of candied cherries, plum jam, forest floor, and cedar. Rich and dense fruit flavors of black cherries, huckleberry jam, root beer, mushroom broth, resinous pine, and hints of baking spices on the finish. Supple on the palate with medium chalky tannins and a lingering finish structured by noticeable acidity. Aged for 10 months in all French Oak barrels (33% new).
