Failla Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2023
750 ml
93 pts. Wine Spectator:
"This suave Pinot has a mulled edge to its raspberry, damson plum and blood orange notes, sparkling with savory and rose hip details. Ends with light-handed echoes of sandalwood and sous-bois. Drink now through 2030."
93 pts. James Suckling:
"Cinnamon, earth, red cherries, raspberries and cracked black pepper on the nose. The palate is fresh and juicy, with tart red fruit and salty flavors. The lingering finish shows a bit of earthiness. An honest, expressive, light-bodied example of a Sonoma Coast pinot. Drink now."
Failla's Sonoma Coast Pinot hits all our happy spots. Deep dark fruit flavors up front, but with a nice spiciness that lifts it up. Use of whole clusters in the fermentation, very few new oak barrels in the aging, organically grown grapes, low alcohol, and low cost to boot! What's not to love? - Wine Factor
FROM THE WINERY
Crushed red fruit, pomegranate and fresh herbs. This wine is a crowd pleaser and punches above its weight.
THE VINEYARDS represented in this bottling are a stellar depiction of quality farming, mature vines, and the distinct terroir of our unique climate. The soil, fog, and ocean influence are all interwoven in this bottling. Roughly 60% of the wine in this blend is estate-grown.
With two fairytale vintages barely in the rearview (‘18 & ‘21), it may strain credulity to call the 2023 VINTAGE “one for the ages” ...but here we are. We will be talking about this vintage for years to come. We have no doubt the wines will hold up for the ride. What a gift it is to bring you these wines.
