Ken Wright Cellars Carter Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023
Willamette Valley, OR
750 ml
94 pts. Wine Spectator:
"This rich and nuanced Pinot combines generosity and refinement, offering raspberry and blueberry flavors highlighted by forest floor and dusky spice tones that finish with fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2034."
Ken Wright has been making wine in the Willamette Valley since 1986. He founded Ken Wright Cellars in 1994, and now makes a single vineyard bottling from 13 vineyard sites in the Northern Willamette Valley. The Carter Vineyard wine is the epitome of classic Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, with great minerality, spice, and ripe but subtle dark fruit flavors. The volcanic soil in which the grapes were grown gives this wine such amazing complexity! A tough wine to put down, once you go in! - Wine Factor
FROM THE WINERY
TASTING NOTES:
Ripe, red fruit forward with a strong presence of fresh red berries, bramble, vanilla, and pie crust. Juicy on the palate with a hint of spice and a long clean finish.
VINTAGE:
2023 was a banner year for us. We had very good crop levels, plenty of heat to ripen properly and had a long season with extended hang time. The weather was very mild avoiding extremes of cold or heat. There were no frost scares at the start of the season and only two days at 100 degrees in the entire growing season. All great wine is about balance. This year the beautiful array of aromatics, plush texture and the frame of acidity are seriously compelling.
