94 pts. James Suckling:
"A crunchy and delicious pinot with sliced strawberry, hibiscus, flint and cherry aromas and flavors, with just a hint of spice from the 25% new French oak. Drink now and enjoy."
This outstanding Pinot Noir exemplifies the high-quality wines being made in the Anderson Valley. There’s a lot going on in this Pinot, with classic Anderson Valley flavors that are a delight for the taste buds! And so affordably-priced for such a great wine! – Wine Factor
FROM THE WINERY
Owned by Ted, Laddie, and Christopher Hall, LMR employs an integrated, organic farming system, using simple, sustainable methods. Each part of the Ranch contributes to the health of the whole. Vineyards and winemaking, olive orchards and olive oil making, cattle and horse breeding all work together in complementary fashion, as do the egg-laying poultry flock and the organic vegetable gardens. All crops are certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and are grown without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers.
GROWING SEASON:
2019 was a very wet winter with rain coming into spring. Keeping the vines in balance was especially important this year. Successful management of the vines along with wonderfully mild weather through summer gave us warm days and cool nights. This is a recipe for success in vineyards, the vintage gave us a great balance of sugar and acid with complete phenolic ripening. We had ripe flavors with freshness along with nice acid balance.
WINEMAKER TASTING NOTES:
Bright and deep ruby in color, this wine opens up with a powerful nose full of red fruit accented with violet. Medium to full-bodied, it shows complex notes of spices, wild berries, orange rind, and plums. With structured tannins and a tangy acidity creating a long, mouthwatering finish, it’s reminiscent of some Vosne Romanee Premier Crus. Will age for over a decade and also deliver right off the bat. – Stéphane Vivier
