Failla Anderson Valley Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023
750 ml
94 pts. Vinous:
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard is plump, juicy and forward. In 2023, the Savoy Pinot has an added kick of darkness and seriousness that is quite attractive. Black cherry, plum, graphite, leather, incense and tobacco add to an impression of gravitas. The long, sustained finish is pure and total class."
94 pts. James Suckling:
"Vivid aromas of wild berries, thyme blossoms and mint lead to a structured, fresh palate with flavors of black cherries, plums and apricots. The medium body carries a lot of depth and concentration for being so light on its feet. The tannins are fine and persistent. Drink or hold."
93 pts. Wine Spectator:
"Full of flavors of mulberry and boysenberry preserves gently infused with rose hip and iris hints. Sweet spices and a hint of warm earth peek in on the generous finish. Drink now through 2033. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 256 cases made."
This wine is a lovely representation of the Anderson Valley. The Savoy vineyard is located right in the middle of the valley - where it's not too hot and not too cold. The winemaker used whole clusters in the fermentation, which we love - it seems to really add complexity to Pinots. And only 20% of the oak barrels were new, so the natural flavors of the grapes shine through without being dominated by the oak. Such a delicious wine! Pairs fantastically with poultry. - Wine Factor
FROM THE WINERY
2023 PINOT NOIR, SAVOY VINEYARD, ANDERSON VALLEY
Wild red fruit, spice and crushed flowers enliven a complex palate with rich tannin, making for an age-worthy classic.
SAVOY VINEYARD was planted by original owner Rich Savoy between 1991 and 1994. We receive a selection massale from the vineyard, ensuring that we get the most complexity and the truest reflection of the Savoy Vineyard. This vineyard is biodynamically farmed.
With two fairytale vintages barely in the rearview (‘18 & ‘21), it may strain credulity to call the 2023 VINTAGE “one for the ages” ...but here we are. We will be talking about this vintage for years to come. We have no doubt the wines will hold up for the ride. What a gift it is to bring you these wines.
EHREN JORDAN is a true vigneron with decades of combined experience in cellars and vineyards from the Rhône Valley to Paso Robles, Sonoma County and Willamette Valley.
