Sojourn Cellars Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2022
750 ml
93 pts. Wine Enthusiast:
"This is a darker and deeper style of Pinot, with black fruit, mushroom and fresh loam aromas dominating the nose. The palate displays black tea, cedar, clove and cherry-raspberry fruit before evolving into a grippy but balanced finish. Enjoy this alongside grilled lamb with rosemary."
93 pts. Wine Spectator:
"A solid, juicy version, with a modestly toasty frame surrounding a mix of black cherry and blackberry compote flavors, while light accents of singed apple wood and anise add energy and range on the finish. Drink now through 2031. 1,500 cases made."
Stick your nose in a glass of this wine and you'll be transported! The bouquet is unmistakably Pinot Noir of the finest variety. 2022 was a warm year, so it's no surprise that this vintage has a more fruit-forward quality than the 2021 did. You still get a nice earthy finish, and decanting brings out more complexity. - Wine Factor
FROM THE WINERY
THE VINEYARD
This wine is a blend of eight unique lots produced from Sonoma Coast vineyards ranging from Annapolis to Occidental, to the Petaluma Gap. Gap’s Crown, Sangiacomo, Walala, and Dorothy Cameron Vineyards represent key components used to produce this blend. Pinot Noir clones 115, 828, 667, Pommard, and Swan add unique elements creating a complex Pinot Noir with a myriad of textures and flavors. Each vintage, this blend offers balance and vibrant, lush textures that are characteristic of the Gap’s Crown and Sangiacomo vineyard components.
WINEMAKER NOTES
A warm 2022 summer brought one of the earliest harvests on record in the Sonoma Coast, with a September heat wave influencing some picking decisions. Cooler pockets of the Sonoma Coast fared well through the heat and the resulting wines offer depth and finesse. Yields were miniscule, with many vineyards breaking records on the low side for cluster weights. The resulting wines have concentrated flavors with tension and length. This 2022 blend offers depth and layers of complexity. The variety of vineyard sites came together with exceptional balance and harmony this vintage, with the Sangiacomo Vineyard blocks featuring more prominently.
